The audacity of KPOP stans to shit talk and be shady to China when they've been hard carrying their faves sales for years
-
what's wrong with promoting the entire album instead of just 1 song?

The only thing that is mostly organic are the global charts like billboard global and spotify global. They are just too big and too expensive to sajaegi for a long time.
Nah. Spotify isn't exactly 100% legit either. Way too many examples of fans mass lopping songs and getting rewarded
Apple Music is the most organic service. They treat all countries the same unlike Spotify. Streams from the Phillipines get vetted and filtered the same as streams from the US. That's why some groups are top 100 on Spotify but n/a on Apple

Chart obsession and Chinese citizens having an excess of money saved up from Covid

Obviously NewJeans
Casually charting 5 songs (with 3 being simultaneously) and getting a #1 album on Billboard all within a year of debuting and with little to no promo was/is bonkers
With all the critical praise they've gotten from a lot of western outlets, they'll probably be the first kpop group to win a grammy

Imagine if Lisa made a song with The Weeknd. She doubles this easily
-
Does SK still not have an industry standard chart that everyone looks at to determine such things?
One streaming service being the end all be all is weird

OMG outpeaked Ditto and Hype Boy globally and showed (and still is) better longevity

Obviously
That said, I do think ADOR made the right choice in not submitting for the grammy's. Should save for their debut album

She has not sold 40 million album units this year. You’re delusional. Maybe total since her career in the US. But not this year.
Concert movies and touring wasn’t as big of a thing back in the 80’s and 90’s. Most artists made their money through physical album sales.
Michael Jackson literally has the best selling album in history for any artist and that’s just pure sales with no easy streaming.
Michael Jackson also has influenced multiple generations of artists to this day!
Top it off, to this day MJ holds the biggest music deal contract in history and it was made after he passed!
Again with the career totals...
Disregarding touring just because it wasn't big back in the days but propping up pure sales and downplaying Taylor's sales because of "easy streaming" knowing full well pure sales have been dead for years now. That's rich
Luckily data is objective and right now they're saying Taylor in 2023 is the biggest peak in the history of music

Either your’re 10 years old or on crack. Michael Jackson literally has the best selling album of all time and the best selling soloist of all time, he has also influenced every other male pop artist that followed him. She’s not even the best selling female artist….
No one is denying that overall, MJ and The Beatles are the pinnacle of success but for a singular year, she outdid both
- She's sold over 40m album units just this year
- Her concert movie made 250m despite only being available for like 3 weeks
- Her stadium tour sold out in pre-sale around the world, had millions waiting in queues to buy tickets and is already estimated to be the biggest ever and it's not even half way done
This doesn't even include being named Time Person of the Year something no other musical act has ever achieved or becoming a billionaire just off the strength of her music..

I think wasian is most probably a stan twitter term, i haven't seen it being used anywhere else either but im seeing lots of posts calling somi "wasian queen" etc on stan twitter after her recent controvery. What's "hapa" supposed to mean?
It's a social media slang term
It started with calling black/asian people "blasian" and it just snowballed from there
