Twice songs were a cultural impact in kpop, their touring power is as big as BP one with Japan amazing numbers and now even USA, their constant increase in physicals and their overall career. They are legendary.

I do think that some people still think they're rivals yes. Twice's Youtube game has still been great and improving if we ignore scientist (LOL). Twice's choreos and TT's are really well known in the industry by kpop fans in general too, it can easily give off the illusion that Twice and BP are still the same ol rivals of 3rd gen back in the day since both of them are still successful. I also think this people aren't active chart stans LOL but more general public/casual kpop listeners.

but it did eventually though as the years went by (iirc d4 is only 100m ahead rn? correct me if I'm wrong) and I'm not saying it beat d4 at that time since it didn't but it was the competition along with power up(who fell off like a rock). Also DTNA floated the charts better than d4 did longevity wise but that's a different story.

It's been this way since cheer up specifically. If people still remember, everyone LOATHED cute concepts for YEARS. Twice got dragged to filth for solidifying their career with bubblegum pop and pioneer the concept in 3rd gen. People were already hesitant to listen to twice title tracks due to the cute concept so of course they wont listen to b-sides too cause they think it'll be the same thing. That same stigma is still around cause clearly twice's discography has been evolving since feel special but people won't give it a chance. Like it's not like twice didn't promote their b-sides cause they definitely did it just wasn't given a chance right from the start. You wont see that happen to groups that do other concepts though cause only cute is cringe!

Side Note: FoL and ToL did not deserve to be left in the dust for being that good.

nah during d4 it was still twice vs bp since DTNA was actually able to fight D4 in kr charts but D4 annihilated yt views that it pissed off armies(d4 still stayed winning). I know this cause I remember the 3 month LONG DTNA vs D4 threads in both OH and AKP + Twitter charts lol. The real gap happened sometime in 2019 when Pinkchella happened.

Also true, no matter how good the album twice makes it will not matter since people don't give it a chance to begin with which sucks for the b-sides when majority of them since FS are better than title tracks.

It's really not if anything its more impressive with bp since they're an anomaly but to give an answer to this. BP had 2-3 direct competitors for a LONG while and one of them were armies when they were at their peak toxicness. There's also Onces from 2016-2018 and MYs last year.

Also it looks "worse" for the group you always side more often cause you're more exposed to that drags that gets targeted to them but all these groups get their fair share of dragging and downplay.

Happens to top groups eventually when they rise.

What expectations? no one believed that Pop was gonna do that well in korea since twice has not been doing as "expected" from a top group in there. Bare minimum promotions in SK and focus on jp, overseas tour, change in sound has led twice to have a decline there. (Not to mention Nayeon's promotions also did not follow this year's norm into making songs chart for long aka festivals) It's delulu to expect that Pop was gonna do well since almost all jyp acts hasn't been well received in the domestic charts. Whose alt are you or did you come out of anons?

woulda had number 1 if wsg didnt appear since pop was able to beat love dive for a few days until love dive proved she was the soty of this year. I'm glad jyp acts are charting good this year, it brings me hope that the next twice cb will chart well in korea.
