Omg that’s great! If you liked I AM, I might suggest you give some of their b-sides on the album a listen—they’re seriously amazing. My favorites are Lips, Blue Blood, Hypnosis, and Cherish. Alsooo their past b-sides (My Satisfaction, Take It, and Royal) are so good, especially My Satisfaction it’s such a unique song.

i don´t like op
i know op threads are all troll or hate
but i watched the program very happily until Jisoo said that
i am not sure if that was scripted, but i didn´t like it AT ALL.
i stoped right there and couldn´t continue
I'm not 100% certain but I think the statement that specifically OP brought up was said in more of a joking manner; I'm sure her views are a lot more nuanced than that, and she explains her reasoning throughout the rest of the video and in her episode on Lee Youngji's show as well.
She has male friends obviously; the host in that segment, Jinu, is her friend, and she states that as well. People that are saying she is making an extremist statement may not have watched the entire clip. I agree that as an isolated screenshot it does look like she made a very polarizing point there lol

It’s not that big of an issue if it’s to be an homage but the title is so…
It would’ve been a better idea to make a song about being jealous of other girls or whatever this one was aiming to do and simply recreate scenes of Olivia’s music videos as an homage (ofc with a better title too). Right now it’s kinda cringe and lacks any kind of nuance which is a bad thing in this case because of the way the title can be interpreted.
I hope Yuehua doesn’t repeat this sort of concept for Yena she deserves better

EVERY male friend? That doesn’t sound like a trustworthy translation tbqh
On Lee Youngji’s show I believe she said unless a boy and girl have known each other from childhood and are like brother and sister, there’s always that like unopened door of possible romance.
I’m not in full agreement with that but I can see where she’s coming from. And maybe being raised in Korea means her experiences are different from someone in, say, the U.S.

That Epstein joke is in poor taste. Truly. It’s one thing to reveal the dark side of the entertainment industry but using the experiences of real life kids on that island to make that type of joke…it’s very gross. Does that mean Jennie is responsible for it? Of course not. I wish she didn’t pick this project for herself because of the story’s message and backlash which has done her more harm than good, but I still feel like people redirecting the blame to her should focus on The Weeknd and Levinson as creators.
No one is above criticism obviously, but there are definitely more significant parts of this show to question than Jennie’s two seconds of screen time each episode.

Queens did that in less than two years.

Jisoo's voice is normally husky. Also, there are different singing techniques that may seem weird to some people. Also, companies would just autotune their voices anyways..
No I agree, I love her husky voice - that's part of why she's my ult bias. I'm just acknowledging the few parts I think some people may find grating, even though I honestly think she sounded good throughout all of it. Plus the falsetto and head voice parts in the pre-chorus were *chef's kiss*.
yeah she might not be the best vocalist but I was watching some vocal reactors and they liked her falsetto she tried something different ( since born pink actually like in the happiest girl)
also the parts people think she struggles is more like a cry compression. I don't know the terminology but someone explained it when they were reacting to her. it's an effect at least for this song I know she might struggle for songs that are too high but this one isn't super high so it's intentional.
Oh that may be true. I thought it sounded fine but I did notice others picking at that one part quite a bit to try to justify why she shouldn't have gotten a solo entirely lmao.

I agree that Blackpink aren't really a feminist group. However, it has rubbed me the wrong way that some people seem to think their songs put down other women. Other than one line in Typa Girl which was a poor choice of whoever wrote that, their other songs aren't putting down other women, rather lifting up themselves.
If you look at any of their "braggy" songs, which are Boombayah, D4, HYLT, Pretty Savage, Pink Venom, and Shut Down (6 out of 31 original songs - they're some of the most popular songs of their catalog which makes people think their entire discography is this way when it's evidently not), most of them are lifting themselves up or responding to haters/people who want to see them fall. And this is all perfectly ok, especially because their fans derive empowerment from it, even if they don't have feminist messages.
Now I'm sure people will pick out two to three lines and scream them as offensive/putting others down, but again, they're lifting themselves up and putting those who don't like them down based on the lyrics - and if this is not to someone's liking, fine. But it's not as problematic as the video is trying to make it seem.

Commercial performance of song is completely irrelevant, even if bp members release fart sound in name of song it would still do good
I specified in Korea because as with Lisa’s solo (even though I’m sure xenophobia probably played a part in her domestic performance) or Ice Cream, if Korea doesn’t like a BP or BP member song it won’t necessarily do well. So if Jisoo sounded as bad as you say she did then her solo wouldn’t have done as well as it’s doing—she’s not just peaking and falling, but holding steady.
And again, imo I don’t think the song is wasted on her. It’s not the best song ever but she suited the vibes and sounded great overall.

I kinda agree with what others’ have said about the distinction between stan and fan, if you’re like 30 or 40 and watching vlogs, buying members’ versions, going to fan signs and virtual fan meets of a group made up of predominantly minors it’s like weird but not necessarily truly ill-intended. Honestly, as long as you’re not being too creepy and sexualizing them it’s not a huge issue.
However, because visuals are such a huge thing in Kpop, this topic becomes more of a concern since there’s a greater chance someone a lot older is admiring minors for their looks which is bizarre to say the least.

I feel like the 1-10 rating scale is not universal because clearly people consider it different things. Like to me, 6 to 8 would be considered average pretty, not 5. 5 to me is completely average, so Jennie would definitely not fall in that category imo.
And idk, this might be an unpopular opinion, but Jennie would stand out to me amongst an average group of girls. She’s very pretty, both with and without makeup.

I think they’re very talented and not boring. However, they have not become as successful as one would except of a Big 4 GG in this era, which probably leads people to make a false conclusion that it’s because they’re boring, when in reality it’s probably just that their songs have not resonated with tons of people.

Their voices would be magical together ngl

For real! I was so excited because the teaser sounded fire and now we’re just…left hanging
