It's because she said that she would like to perform, but not do army performances. Which, honestly, is valid. Army performances are used to... um... boost morale you could say. And girl groups that do army performances are often subjects of sexual harassment by people in the army. The soldiers getting pissy because they think Yoon is labeling them as perverts, even though she clearly isn't.

They'll definitely explore more concepts in the future. But I think they're going to wait a few years since a majority of the members are so young.

I've seen some people say that LIGHTSUM will end up like early CLC where they will be unsuccessful with the cute concept and will eventually switch to girl crush. Personally, I don't think this is true. CLC had a lot of reasons why the cute concept didn't work for them that LIGHTSUM doesn't have to worry about.
CLC debut in 2015, at that time the kpop market was oversaturated with cute concepts so CLC didn't stand out. There were also internal problems at CUBE such as CEO changes, 4minute disbanding, BEAST leaving CUBE, and lots of other fuckery behind the scenes. These resulted in terrible management decisions during CLC's rookie years.
Cube is at a much better place now than they were six years ago. Cube's management isn't perfect, heck, I'd barely call it good. But compared to back then LIGHTSUM is debuting with much stronger footing than CLC did. And right now, the popular concept among girl groups is girl crush. To the point where the market is becoming just as oversaturated as it was in 2015. By debuting LIGHTSUM with a cute concept, they will be put in contrast with a majority of the market and will stand out.
The only thing I would be worried about is the Soojin scandal, but it probably won't affect them that much.
TLDR: Cube's management and the kpop market are different now than they were during CLC's cute era, so LIGHTSUM probably won't have to deal with the same problems CLC did.

It begins.
33 Koreans, 33 Japanese, and 33 Chinese girls each, with global fan voting in all three countries + internationally.
We already saw how toxic things got in Produce with solo fans. With Girl's Planet, there will be the added case of country bias.
Sigh, this is going to be a bloodbath.

STAYC went semi-viral with ASAP and has gained a lot of attention in Korea. ASAP has been proven to have longevity and they have enough public favor that charting-wise they can compete with big3 groups. Their producer is BEP, the person who wrote a large chunk of TWICE's title track including their viral hits Cheer Up and TT. Not to mention the group is overflowing with visuals and talent.
I personally think that if BEP listens to what the public wants and keeps heavily promoting STAYC their next comeback might go viral.

she also called herself korean despite not being korean lol that’s not the only reason i said she’s a kboo
When did she call herself Korean again(genuine question, I'm not being sarcastic) Also wasn't the whole Blackpink thing disproven?
