I find it interesting how showering can vary in different countries. I've heard that in SK they shower 2-3 times a day. In the US, we shower 1-2 times a day. We also don't wash our hair everyday in the US.
Noone can stop another person from posting their opinions. The problem is when there is a need for attention and validation. If someone was to just post ‘I didn’t like it’ or ‘not my taste’ then most people would just ignore them.

Your memory fails you, as the Macarena craze happened in 1996, a full 16 years earlier.
I looked it up after I posted and yeah the years are way off. I think that the Macarena was probably brought up frequently with GS, as a comparison. That is probably why I thought the 2 came out at the same time. The Harlem shake also came out the same year as GS and twerking also started going viral a year later. I must’ve lumped them all together in my memory.
BTS would have a main category Grammy by now if they were really industry plants. The lack of logic is astronomical in thinking that a SK kpop boy group would ever be considered to be the designated plant. BTS is as opposite as you can get from what the US music industry tries to push onto the GP.
The ONLY kpop group that is competitive against big western acts is BTS. No other kpop group is in the same league as Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, etc. BTS is growing in the west, and yes kpop gets some of the benefits of that attention. The narrative that kpop would've grown to the extent as it is now (without BTS) is sasaeng level delusional. Kpop will not grow beyond BTS ever. It's growth will always be tied to BTS. Good luck once BTS disbands.
I think Psy came out during the whole viral dances craze. I vaguely remember the Macarena also around that time. I wasn't into the craze so I ignored it.
