    Not this cursed meme :pepe-cross::peperun:

most Indian ARMYs here are in their mid twenties or over 30. Maybe their families did but majority of Indian population didn't. I could go ask any random Indian online or on the street and they would be like "wtf are you talking about?". That edit looks like every normal desi kpop fan's edit, if I'm being honest.

Maybe your family but I'm pretty sure the population here has no clue about it. It was not viral here at all. Also streams can easily be manipulated in India. Most of the population uses Gaana here, so using a Spotify or Apple Music chart would not make sense. Also India didn't have a platform to stream kpop until 2019.

And once again, BTS never "blew up" in India. The streams and views are an effect of their popularity worldwide. Indians can easily get curious about BTS just by looking at the number of views they get when they release an MV. And BWL was all over YT back in 2019, so it's expected some fellows would've gotten interested.

Believe what you want lol. Idk what population you are talking about anyway and from my previous experiences with you I know discussing with you is like talking to a wall. So I'll leave it here.

Streams on Spotify btw can increase because of multiple reasons, I was mainly talking about yt streams which is more widely used than gaana or saavn.

And yes all the Indian fans got to know about the views BWL gets months after it was released at the same time. It makes perfect sense.

    This happened yesterday lol :pepeflushed:

I'm Indian and I do know what happens here. Whatever is popular in the west gets popular over here. I use a lot of internet and a part of various online communities but not even once did I ever encounter that edit on those groups. I know all the memes Indians use but that one never came up. It's just an effect of BTS popularity worldwide not an effing edit. I know a few newbie ARMYs and none of them mentioned that edit.

I've seen the edit everywhere, my family members were sending that on their WhatsApp groups. It definitely did affect their popularity.

BTS were becoming huge in the west for 2+ years, why did BTS suddenly blow up then? Did all the Indian fans suddenly woke up one day and collectively saw their popularity in the west decided to hear them out? That does not make much sense, their streams and views increasing aligns with the edit going viral so there's enough causation for this.

Also this is not me denying that BTS becoming huge is the west did not have any impact on here, it gave them more exposure but they did not blow up because of that.

Oof should've read the last page first :pepe-toilet:

The demographics that BTS/kpop is targeting and will most likely gain fans from is more willing to spend money on stuff like albums and concerts and there's enough of us here to actually be profitable. While the rest might casually listen to their songs, and provide more promo lol.

This Indian influencer with her group of friends went to Thailand just to attend a BTS concert. I don't have that much money to do it but it clearly shows there are others that are.

I see that Indians are "generally" like that but It's all in the demographics BTS is targeting.

Lol i don't know where this thread went but I'm not surprised.

Anyway BTS is a lot bigger than kpop here just like in many places. In local streaming platforms like Jio and Saavn(which are more used than Spotify) BTS have almost a million followers each with their songs having millions of streams. Dynamite has almost 8M, but it's an outlier. On has almost 3M streams. Even their Bsides are out streaming other group tts. The second closest group is maybe BP with around 200k followers on one platform. (the data is from some months ago so my memory might be hazy but the ballpark is correct)

They had been growing here slowly but the Chunari edit and Dynamite gave them a huge boost. Even before the edit went viral the tickets for their movie sold like hotcakes. A senior official from the company even said that they had to increase shows three to four times it's original number to keep up with the demand.

There's a small kpop community in North Eastern region which have already seen some kpop groups perfomances. It's definitely growing here.

GGs are usually bound by the concept of their songs and their individual performances show more of their skills than a group performance imo. I'm saying bound, but some of those choreos are also pretty difficult to execute, just not my preference either as it doesn't show much versatility.

The heels and periods do sound like excuses and make it seem like GG Idols are less skilled in comparison to their male counterparts because of things they can't inherently change(periods). Which is not the case.

People are just salty, no one would be saying this about Dynamite if it wasn't such a huge success and did normally like other kpop groups English songs do :pepe-tea:

Dynamite did it because it is a "generic" song but their faves generic songs couldn't do it so some salt is expected :pepeflushed:

Someone save this thread with 1 last album please we already have 9

Can we post multiple since it's flopping? :danceb:

Too many songs, 8 songs or less

This one has an extra skit, without the skit, it has 8 songs. Does it work?

What I find great is that with how diverse their discography is, albums are still thematically coherent which makes the listening experience more fun for me. A great example is Tear, the best album of all time.

There's a reason BTS are where they are :peperich:
