    WHAT'S THE TEA? Spill!!!

For me personally with commercial space race context in mind, the corporations may not care enough about littering the orbit which can hinder space exploration. This is judging from negligence about environmental regulations that are overlooked and not really talked about to. Granted overlooking regulations and environmental issues aren't a Space X problem. It is a general corporation problem. However, because it is Space X, they kinda get a pass from their fanbase.

Like Tesla, the way employees are treated to save costs and demand performance is pretty questionable. In this aspect, it's not different from Bezos and his anti-union practices.

Space X gave some initial excitement to space programs and lowered costs of launch, but like any corporate project, it's not all positives and shouldn't get a blind pass.

Elon Musk tea is plentiful. I think there was a topic about him before.

Taliban is very very shitty, but what is sadder for Afghans in general is they are the less shitty ones compared to warlords and the corrupt puppet government. Afghanistan was unstable since the Great Game. Taliban was the only group that gave that region some semblance of stability.

Some of shitty practices against woman and children were there before the Taliban and it is basically still part of the culture of some groups in Afghanistan. Afghanistan is a clusterfucks of different groups since forever and not taking that into account was the downfall of any pitiful attempt of having a puppet state there like the same situation in Iraq. Saddam was a shitty despicable human being, but he was keeping Iraq together.

There is no fixing from outsiders. The Afghans should be left alone to sort their things up. They will probably just become like Pakistan without nukes and cash. Pakistan does lot of the same shitty practices and no external power bats an eye against them. They birthed the Taliban basically, so not a surprise.

The best future Afghanistan has now is whatever government Taliban shapes for themselves makes it stable enough to attract investments from China as the area would be crucial for their Silk Road plan. That area is a hassle to tame, but it is still a precious strategic geopolitical region to every power player in the region. Hope every single player choose a different approach on how to benefit from such a power vacuum.

It's a matter of personal taste and beauty standards.

Now if it is overrated in comparison to what? The way people talk about it? Korean beauty is part of cultural export. If this is what you are touching about, maybe like everything that gets popular and spoken about.

Now talking about visuals in idol groups, maybe people have problem with how it is marketed. Like some idols are marked as visual. It can be head scratching. However, it not unique to Kpop. What it is unique about Kpop is how it is systematically marketed. Personally I find some idols are overrated as a symbol of Korean beauty standard. There are lot of underrated/overlooked idols just because they don't fit that standard.

Personally maybe East Asian in general is overrated using the same metric when talking about such a vast region and Southeast, Central, and South Asian beauty are underrated or overlooked.

Afghan President Ghani relinquishes power, Taliban form interim gov't
Taliban insurgents entered Afghanistan’s capital Kabul and declared they expected to take power within days, promising to run the country more moderately...

I see people saying they are surprised ANA folding to Taliban that soon just because of supposed air support from the American/NATO military. It's not that surprising if you follow reports of how USA is spending their money in "training" ANA and babysitting this farce of puppet government. This occupation was no more than a simple badly disguised racket. Sadly, I feel like American news will just keep dropping the balls about reporting this properly.

I have a long rant in my head, but it is useless to post it anywhere. My only naive hope is this isn't much effective for partisan discussion. It doesn't matter if it's any of the two only "options" in political parties have more fault than the other or who was the president who did worse. From the get go this was an ill-conceived invasion and the results speak for themself. Pretty sure some warhawk will be happy to suck the military industrial complex's dick and use this situation for future interventions.

In case of idols, they sell their public image to make money. Anything that can tarnish this image should be dealt with before any scandal breaks up. If they did bully in the past, they should seek redemption before getting into this sorta business. However, many bullies just believe what they did in the past was harmless, justifiable because they suffer from stress or bullying themselves, or just a game for them and just forget about it. If they just react to their past wrongdoings when they are caught, it's hard to sympathize with the idol IMO. People change, but maybe they should have chosen a different career that doesn't involve public image in the first place.

I'm referring to true bullying cases. Some cases seem more like kids being mean or dumb which is expected and supposed victims having thin skin from some of the descriptions. To me it's hard to take these cases seriously and makes bullying looks less serious. Usually bullying has some power dynamic involved with victims unable to fight back or seek proper help. Some cases seem like hurt feelings over some shitty attitude, but that's about it. Middle school kids can and will act stupid as they are still developing socially. In such competitive school setting this is very prone to happen. It's shitty, but if no power abuse happens, kids should just grow a thicker skin. In this case I don't think career should be affected for being a little mean kid in middle school.

The rational part of the brain isn't in command in terms of priorities. Our wants and desires management parts can and will override the rational part. The gut flora may even have more influence over decisions than what one consider oneself. Basically the rational part is slow and deliberate while the other parts are designed for quick decision.

Check neuroscience videos around marketing and propaganda. Although not directly related, they explain how our brain mechanics work and how it affects us psychologically (of course brain science is still pretty green, but it advanced a lot in the last decades) and our decision making.

I imagine one would need lot of brain "rewiring" to truly act rationally over desires and obsessions and not just have the illusion of rationality over these matters. Maybe rising awareness of self through meditation could help. Basically slow down our wants and desires and let the rational part deliberate and recognize biases. There are treatment for addictions and behaviors, but they aren't preventive. I don't believe there is much real research or focus on this. At least most will fall into some sketchy self-help category to guru bullshit.

It depends what you want. I like to be adventurous and read random short stories without any recommendation or reading about it. Most are kinda average, but even average one are pretty creative and different even if not polished. I like to check some random oneshots by known mangakas.

Any of the big shonen and shoujo mangas from 80s to today are good read overall (so many to name).

Then we have big name shonen outside of Shonen Jump sphere and big seinen/josei like Berserk, Naoki Urasawa, Junji Ito, Takehiko Inoue, Kaoru Mori, Yuki Urushibara, and so on.

After that, you may go for very specific stuff like certain type of horror, homosexual stuff, or slice-of-life about something specific. Or go to the rabbit hole and go for some fuck up shit. I particularly liked Shintaro Kago. I think he is a good "introduction" to fuck up stuff you will question yourself reading. Otherwise, I like to read some old school horror like Kazuo Umezo mangas (The Drifting Classroom) and Hideshi Hino.

Depending on how you classify manga, there are illustrators, but the illustration itself contains a continuous or self-contained story (like 40hara, Yomu, and so on). Some even got anime works based on that! Just follow their twitter or Instagram to follow the storyline illustration. If you want something really cute and wholesome, I recommend Diva with his/her daily lives of Catholic nuns.

The corporations know and they are preparing for the worse scenario by accumulating more and more resources for themselves. It is by design. It's the future they want.

Trying to make consumers responsible never worked and never will.

For instance, plastic pollution was already a problem in the 90s and lot of campaign for making consumers conscious was made while running the whole recycle scam scheme. What the result? More plastic production.

Same with lot of other environmental issues like fishery. Instead of conserving, we double down on fishing more even thou we knew it could lead to a marine ecosystem collapse. Fish farming is for the most part bullshit and worse for ecosystems.

I remember in the 90s articles speculating about if China consumed like Americans what it could mean to the environment. Well they aren't quite there on average, but we don't need to speculate no more. Now India and other highly populated nations wanna enjoy the same. Can we just deny them the same standards of consumption?

We are fighting climate crisis by making consumers buy more shit and polluting even more. The only real solution is redesigning economies based on consumerism and endless growth. However, elites will not have that and we peasants will fight ourselves over any political bullshit instead.

If the prospect artist doesn't need popularity from the masses, sure. Some may get away even with alienating values/statements/actions if they have something unique to offer.

The masses aren't really consistent when dealing with scandals. It depends more on the artist's (lack of) shame. If they feel ashamed, they may never return after a scandal. However, if they don't give much of a fuck, there is always a public for controversial figures as long they have something to offer.
