twice payola and fake views were exposed in 2018 when they all of a sudden stopped competing with BTS and bp for first day YouTube records. It’s not something that happened now. Sure maybe they had some more months on top than nj where people pretended they were even remotely on the other two’s level but it was exactly like this.
Unlike NJ, Twice didn't have a massive decline in 2018 internationally, its just their competitor's popularity exploded in the west. Thats the main reason why Twice can't compete with BP and BTS anymore on yt 2018 onwards. While, Twice themselves still managed to break their own personal first day yt records in 2018. Whereas for NJ, their competitor's international charting pretty much remain the same, it's NJ that went downhill internationally with their recent releases.

I just went to see NewJeans views and they are fine?? They have several MVs with +100M views??
Do they use ads like the others kpop groups? Bc if not then their numbers are good for a top group in comparison to others top groups of this gen and this is just an extra when we put with their charting, etc.
Their most viewed MV 'OMG' didn't even make the cut for "Top 10 most viewed 4th & 5th gen Girlgroup MV". Not trying to say that its a flop, but it's certainly a low ranking for a supposedly top TOP GG of this gen. And I am not even comparing their views with 2nd/3rd gen GG views.
Twice recovered from their YouTube downfall and payola being exposed and still maintained their huge international popularity and even grew it I’m sure new jeans will also be fine.
Twice is an established group with a solid fandom, while NJ is a 2 years old group fresh out of their rookie era. I don't think it's comparable.
Uhm, nope when internationally they are still big. We'll see their real "size" with a tour tbh, but digital wise they are doing good.
Edit: btw the Twice sneak when internationally digital wise they aren't on the same level as BP, sorry.
Me writing "Blackpink/Twice" doesn't mean they're on the same level lol. I'm writing Twice bcs of Japanese and Asean market in mind. And sure "technically" Sistar isn't on the same level internationally with NJ, but that have more to do with how global Kpop has become for 4th gen group.
Ofc they are not a flop, but they went from a Blackpink/Twice potential competitor to a Sistar level of fame. Which is fine, Sistar was a Korean digital Queen. Honestly NJ being dragged through the mud rn is because their "fans" set them up (especially here on allkpop).

Tho some would say it's not technically the same Ig.
Kpop is going through a slump internationally without them. There's a reason why we keep seeing "Is Kpop slowing down?" being asked over and over again (even on allkpop) ever since they went on hiatus.
I think people here were pretty spot on. A good Korean charting (tho not as good as some would hope, with PAK and all that), and a decline on US/international chart. The only surprise is the decline on US/International side was way bigger than what most people predicted Ig.
Newjeans still has things going on for them though. They have retained their dominance in Korea and will probably chart 4 songs in the top 10. And they are the most streamed GG on Spotify right now I believe.
Despite this underperformance, Newjeans is THE top group. Newjeans running from 2022 and 2023 was strong and they can get back to that.
I'm not talking abt their Korean charting tho. And tbf their Korean charting isn't out of this world either (Kpop GG killing it on Korean chart is nothing new). Its BB Hot 100 that put them way ahead of other GG imo, but now it's gone just like that. That drop from 5 to 0 in A SINGLE YEAR, thats truly something. It's interesting cause this kinda drop usually happens to a one-hit-wonder act.
Btw I find it interesting how after NewJeans and IVE dominated 2022 and 2023, they won't be in the conversation when ppl talk abt 2024 daesang, shows you how volatile the industry is.
it feels like 4th gen is peaking faster than the previous gens. Almost all top 4th gen GG have zero staying power, only one or two years at top before they start to dwindle. Ig it has to do with how kpop fans treat groups as a trends instead of actual artists.
