Agreed with everything said above me, and I'll also note, that at least for some of the older fans, BTS appearing consistently on late-night talk shows since 2017 has been a major factor. Both my parents (late 50s) and my grandmother (late 70s) knew who BTS was before I ever mentioned I was a fan, because they went on the Stephen Colbert show during the BWL comeback, and then SNL shortly after. Wouldn't be surprised if the BTS week they did on Jimmy Fallon had a similar effect.

Shut Down grew on me. Pink Venom still feels like a huge head scratcher - especially the chorus. Some of the b-sides are also fun, but the lack of sonic diversity in the album as a whole (and as compared to The Album) minimizes its replay value for me. Waiting for the girls to get the type of production and lyrical value they deserve as the biggest girl group in the world.

As of right now? BTS is the top group. Whether that will remain the case by the time their enlistment is over is anyones guess. Assuming the "soonest" BTS tour again is 2026 (since it's not likely all the members will be done with service until late 2025), all the other groups have at least 2 to 3 years to "catch up."
That said, I do find it funny that: (1) all the other groups are chasing BTS's 2019 numbers with regards to the best selling k-pop touring act, (2) if BTS had been able to put on their MOTS tour, there really wouldn't even be a question of whether another act could "beat" BTS, (3) if another act does beat BTS's numbers, it'll be in the absence of the group at their height of popularity, and is not a true head-to-head competitions, and (4) the title will inevitably and ultimately be BTS's because we all know that reunion tour in 2026 (or 2027, or 2028, etc. etc.) will be one for the books.

Nah that hasn’t been his only scandal. Check 2016
Just did - thanks for letting me know. And totally understand if people don't want to support his work because of that, apology or not, but my point still stands - most of the ARMY I've seen talking about not supporting the collab aren't doing so because of any of his actions, but because of bad blood between the fandoms.
-
I understand being wary of fandoms that have been super toxic in the past, but all the supposed ARMY saying they're not even going to give it a listen because of fandom beef are mad weird. I'd understand it better if it was a collab with someone super problematic, but isn't Taeyang's only "scandal" that he got secretly married years ago? Besides, it's obvious that the members don't care - Hobi invited him to his JITB party, RM took a picture with him at a book club - so why should we?
(Plus, I feel like the best "revenge" - if you even want to call it that - would be making sure Jimin's feature is the most streamed song on the album.)
Anyway, I'm just hoping this is more of an R&B track than anything more EDM, because I think Jimin could really shine on a song like that.

If this is what we're getting for a FOLIO concept, then I'm terrified for what his debut album concept is going to be. We're NOT READY.

home was my most streamed song of 2019, so i gotta be loyal

Sorry to burst your bubble, but chartmasters was wrong:

Kinda agree. And not even because I think the songs are necessarily bad - almost all of them have "catchy" parts, and the majority have a decent beat. But it is, for lack of better word, fairly boring. None of the songs they did were exceptionally different from what they've done in the past (save the happiest girl) and even the two songs off born pink that'd i listen to again independently (happiest girl and tally) start to feel a bit repetitive by the end.
I guess what I'm saying is that born pink isn't bad but it also isn't particularly memorable or inspiring.

SO SO SO SO SO EXCITED FOR THIS. (I'm assuming) this will be another iconic Jimin ballad for the books!

Woke up this morning to "get well soon Jimin" trending on twitter before I saw the news, and nearly had a heart attack. And then when I saw the announcement my heart dropped. I'm sure he'll recover well, especially since (1) the COVID appears to be mild, and (2) they caught the appendicitis early, but my heart still aches because I know he was - and likely still is - in pain and by himself

I actually think posting the unfiltered streams makes a lot of sense. ARMY does their best work when they have a tangible goal, and I think this is good motivation.
I think it will be close but, tbh, between all the playlisting that this song has, and the fact that it's being released on a Friday night - when a lot of casual spotify listeners are more likely to throw on a playlist - means Butter might have a shot at the record.

Jesus, are there really SEVEN songwriters for this song?
I mean (1) we don't know if all them were songwriters - some could be sound mixers or producers, and (2) even if there was seven songwriters, frankly, who cares? it's really not an indication of quality, and collaborative writing teams are more and more the norm in the western pop market.
and not to get into a tit-for-tat, but weren't there are at least seven contributors for a few of the songs on BP's album? y'know, a product that - given your username - i'd assume you hold in high regard.
edit: and wendii came through with the receipts.
