Looks like the way to get on this list is build a fanbase first, then realease an album a year(s) later. IZ*ONE did it the hard way
The new melon isn’t really THAT fandom driven. Old old melon WAS fandom driven. What’s happening on new melon is that it can boost ur song spots if you have fandom, that makes the chart MOVE and therefore it’s a pseudo-recommendation to people who only checks out, like, top 10-20. That said, you still need quite a huge chunk of Daily ULs and hourly ULs to chart on it.
Unlike old old melon that can have #1 songs whose UL won’t even be inside the top 100 daily.
Last I checked, Sticker is about 60 places higher on top 100 than 24hits, I think the difference illustrates the fandom power pretty well for this current chart
If you're talking about "the" top group and not just "a" top group, then 2018 was when they were the top group in Gallup, so the answer is probably DNA, late 2017.
He doesn't work on the choreographies alone, the final choreo's are typically put together from multiple choreographers, then the in-house choreographers and idols work together to arrange and modify for the final choreo. So if you're unhappy with Blackpink's choreo it's probably more on YG since other groups Kiel has contributed to don't have the same issues.
There are groups that have 80% of their sales from KTown4U and groups that only have 10% of their sales there, it's too early to tell.

That doesnt make it bigger than latata or a few other songs by them... peaks arent everything, neither is melon (gaon is). Hwa only had a decent peak and collapsed
Hwaa was released during a dead chart aswell, a couple months later or earlier and its peak on 24hits drops dramatically.
Saying Twice peaked then is kinda misleading considering they literally have a record for consecutive no. 1's for idols (9 on Gaon Digital weekly).
And their peak was so high that people consider "only" charting in the top 10 as a failure.

Maybe because girl groups rely more on the gp than boy groups so coming from a company with less recognition, connections and resources puts GGs at more of a disadvantage than BGs in the same situation.
BGs can build a core fanbase with just appealing to the more engaged Kpop community without much public recognition, eg every 4th gen boy group.
Care to explain what exactly happened? From the context clues I gathered I am guessing someone donated albums to a orphanage.
I guess it would make sense if the orphanage was filled with kpop fans, but I am also guessing this orphanage was not filled with kpop fans.
So, yeah people if you gonna buy albums to donate to orphanages you might want to sell those albums or the things in the albums and donate the money you earned from selling it.
The fanbases don't actually care about charity, they just "donate" so they can pretend they're not responsible for a ton of waste. Places that receive albums have asked people to stop donating albums because they already have more than they can give away.
Chinese fanbases in particular fundraise for 100k's of albums and don't want to pay for shipping so the albums stay in Korea and it's a massive hassle to try and sell them on in that case.
