Most likely because they don't need to. AOA's switch to sexy was in hopes to grab an audience. Same with Girls' Day. And like you said Miss A was sexy a good half of the time not just with Hush. YG has a distinct style for his very few girl groups. And arguably SM has done sexy just in a more classy way than smaller agencies since I would very much say that Genie and Hoot were male targeted sexy concepts

The second you go out to drink with the intention to drive yourself home afterwards you are willingly both putting your life in danger and the lives of anyone who crosses your path on the road. That is not a simple mistake like a sober accident. So no I don't have sympathy for her. Especially not in the way she defended herself in that video. However sending someone death threats helps no one at all. She shouldn't have said this but that doesn't give people an excuse to threaten her
