The gap is significant they had one of the biggest viral hits of last year.

I don’t think it has anything to do with the song or at least not entirely
It’s about the hype they just don’t have the hype
I don’t think Aespa songs are becoming a hit because they’re particularly good songs or have some great meaning and music. They are hip and trendy.
And conversely I don’t think twice was releasing magnificently better music than RV to have those back to back hits. Twice were the IT group. Anything they touched turned to gold for a while. And when they lost that hype they too don’t have the consistent hits.
Like red velvet, Itzy may have their own hits and misses. So they’ll flop some years have hits other years because they just aren’t that on top trendy group.
I wouldn’t think too much about this. IMO it doesn’t matter. Won’t change that Loco was the best GG song of the year.

no i didnt like the lyrics either
Sure

i know the lyrics are deep but i always found it funny how the song sounds like its being sung by a bunch of aliens/supernatural beings ( which I suppose, was intentional )
So no it doesn’t have atrocious lyrics. You didn’t like the music video concept

i am only referring to kpop gg. I will definitely listen more to Taylor Swift or Olivia Rodriguez over Kanye West or Justin Beiber . I never said they dont have female fans . I mentioned GP or casual listeners .GG have more casual listeners that are pre-dominantly male than female. Have you ever wonder why a sexy female video or mv will have a lot of hit in youtube? Who do you think is watching it? I think BP is an exception because their image was never a cute /sweet one hence they tend to pull casual female fans. I never bought any of their albums but I add their songs in my playlist because I like their image and their sound.
This is about kpop GGs lol I don’t know what is the listener base for international acts.
GG have more casual listeners that are pre-dominantly male than female
This is factually wrong. GG listeners are split 50-50 and more likely to be more women than men. It’s only BGs that are dominated by women. Everyone listens to GGs.

I am a woman. The only k-pop GG that has appeal to me is Blackpink. Rest appear too cutesy /sweetie for me. I think k-pop GG has mostly appeal to GP in Korea which are pre- dominantly men. They dont buy albums but do great in streaming both in their K-chart platform & Youtube . Though they also have loyal female fans which are usually the ones that buy albums . In short, you’ll know who has more female fans based on album sales. Most men I know wont buy an album but probably watch youtube content of k-pop girl group ( cutesy or sexy) or listen to their songs in whatever platform . This is also the reason why most BG have higher physical sales. Women in general are loyal while men ( GP) will go the next younger GG when the group gets older. Only if you have accummulated a good number of female fans will a gg have a chance to retain their fame after 5 yrs. For now, it’s just BP or perhaps TWICE but I dont know them enough to like them. It’s too many members for me to remember.
This is untrue GGs have more female listeners than BGs and the ratio of women to men is usually 50-50 tipping towards women. BGs just have a predominantly female audience in comparison to GGs. But women are more likely to listen to a GG than a BG.

Oh trust me, I know this one first hand.
OTOH, most of these people weren't friends BEFORE they dormed up, which is a different thing to moving in with existing friends. Some of my longest term friends were people I met as room-mates in Japan many, many years ago.For your response kind of proves how well that particular image of kpop sells tbh haha far more than the BF image.
As a counter how many times have you heard about entire sports teams being best friends forever? Similar to the idol trainee system they train together live in camps together travel the country or the world together… but do those people project their best friends image as much as idols do?
I think idol group dynamics is as fake as the BF image they try to project
-
Not necessarily true tbh. I think when you're young you can enjoy dorm's life and create a second family with your friends. As long as you know how to deal with tensions and arguments ( which are bound to happen, lol especially with teenagers ), it can be very formative and create lasting friendships.
As you get older, you are bound to want your own space, though, that's 100% normal
Ofc proximity can lead to some good friendship it’s not a absolute necessity to hate everyone. But I just think kpop friendships are manufactured and projected because even more than the BF image, the group dynamics is something kpop fans crave and something that sells very well.
