In general what I notice from streams on Spotify or Melon is that BG streams are more even, and GG streams are more skewed to title tracks.
This goes back to the whole GG is GP and BG is fandom narrative and the streams reflect that. So Blackpink like other GGs have their streams more skewed to title tracks.
yess that is true.
and i guess a lot of it has to do with the fact that kpop comebacks are a lot more than just the music. its like a whole event, especially with bigger groups like blackpink, bts etc.
so people dont really care to listen to bsides, bc the title track is supposed to be the main event. and if you dont like the title track you can just look forward to the mv, the dance practice, or the live stages.
I'm a blink because of their songs. I heard everything and never missed any of their b-sides. There is so many bsides that worth to listen like really, see u later, love to hate me, kick it, don't know what to do.
yessss honestly i hadn't listened to Blackpink in a little bit since pink venom. I've just been into western music a little more later in general.
but after pink venom, i listened to all of their songs again and realized the reason why I got into them in the first place. like their bsides are REALLY good compared to other kpop groups, they are unique in the sense that each one could be a title track if it wanted to. people really are missing out.
But even tittle tracks does not sound the same
they really don't. kpop fans have deluded themselves into thinking it does
and when people complain about the structure I laugh a little bc... they only have four members. two of which are rappers and two that are vocalists. they don't have many combinations that they can do??
It's not Blackpink exclusive, people will not check out the full discography if the title tracks don't work for them.
So when title track sounds "all the same" to them, and they don't like it, why would they check out the b-sides? It's not that people purposely choose not to check it out, but instead there isn't an incentive to do so.
Yeah that's true but i feel like bc bps discography is kinda small it would be easy to just listen to the bsides, people are missing out.
i think that's what's so different from western stan culture and kpop stan culture.
when beyonce releases an album, EVERYONE, will listen to the entire album. but with kpop, if the title track isn't good then everything else on the album is just obsolete lmao.
I feel like the kpop fans who say that all of Blackpink's music sounds the same haven't listened to their bsides...
I know I'm biased but bps bsides have to be some of my favorite in kpop. they all really are unique and something that I feel only blackpink could pull off.
crazy over you is grammy worthy, especially the live version like wow
I'm pretty sure it took like 6 days for new jeans to get to number 1 right?
and I mean Blackpink took their number 1 spot on every other chart including flo which is supposed to be harder than melon.
blackpink is rising in unique listeners, all they need is time. and even if they don't get the number one on melon. is it that big of a deal? do we need to constantly compare new girl groups with Blackpink every time they get a little bit of success? bp really is the standard lmaoo
yeah people were mad and saying that blackpink couldnt pull off a cute concept. like it was ridiculous. the way it was an immediate switch up when d4 came out lmoasdfa
I just think it's funny when people hate on bps new releases and treat as if it's you're last like the holy messiah of their discography when it was actually hated by a lot of people on release.
and then when d4 came out everyone was calling it a masterpiece and somehow it's now one of the best songs that had ever been created in kpop.
just goes to show that people do not know what they want with blackpink. not even their most loved songs now were safe when they first came out lmaoo
I cant even look at the charts it stress me out, I just wanna enjoy the bp music (me a chart fanatic)
i get it, I think it has to do with the fact that bc Blackpink always comes back after long hiatuses, people expect more from them.
i mean people were calling kill this love a flop even though for any other group it would have been their most popular song lmaoo, blackpink is just in a different tier for people's standards.
they're predicted to place #2 which would be the highest debut for a girl group in 2022
I agree with this but I'm not mad at the ending because the choreography looks really good so it makes up for it. I'm just glad they shut down the rumors of a d4 2.0... even though they did that with lsg which people seem to forget lmao
