About starship and charting…

  • I’m not talking about the current groups like IVE. I genuinely think they’re doing well and their success is legit.

I’m referring to the time when SISTAR was active. Starship was often accused of chart manipulation during that time. SISTAR has achieved many number 1 hits back to back, even beating out other popular acts and songs. Even their subunit had lots of chart success. Weird is, their physicals were always bad and their consecutive number 1 hits seemed too crazy to be real. They didn’t even have an it girl or sth to make them stand out next to other ggs

So Was that just baseless accusations from jealous netizens or was there some truth in the whole starship manipulates charts narrative? Although their summer songs are said to be hugely popular, I don’t see other idols covering them much like other 2nd gen songs, and it seems like their songs reached high peaks but don’t seem to have much longevity…or am I wrong?

So what are your thoughts on their huge digital success? Suspicious or not? Did starship get their fingers in their charting?

  • Let's just admit that starship ggs knows how to form a gg. Their ggs always have concepts different from usual groups and music is good.

  • jealous netizens.

Some group can have successful digital without physical. There is many group like that. OMG is one of the example.

  • The only ggs from the same gen as Sistar that were able to sell a lot were SNSD and Kara, and both were very popular in Japan, a country where Sistar never promoted.

The sajaegi accusations came from salty fans that didn't like how Sistar would always top their faves.

Every gen have and still dance and sing Sistar's songs. Their title tracks are all well known. Not only Sistar but Mad Clown and K.will (Starship artists) also used to have hits with gp and Soyou had a national hit as well with Some.

If Starship manipulated charts they would do the same for Boyfriend, Monsta X, WJSN and Cravity. These groups were much more slower for success but besides Boyfriend, at least all the other 3 are still active and stable thanks to the quality of music and concept. Sajaegi can't last as much.
