is it pointless that seventeen is releasing an english song soon?

  • if you go on twitter, a lot of korean fans aren’t happy that seventeen is releasing an english pre-single. are english songs pretty pointless when they never seem to have much impact, only seem to alienate their korean fans more?

  • well, that's dumb. Svt has regular Korean comebacks so one English single shouldn't be that big of a deal.

That, and Korean listeners can and do enjoy English songs from Kpop artists so idk... it sounds like these knetz should wait and give it chance before judging... that's more their problem than svt's imo.

  • Why would it be? BTS and Twice had the biggest hits of their career in the West on English singles. Even groups like Monsta X and NCT, who didn’t chart, still saw their fandom and US album sales grow after English only releases.

  • No, it’s not dumb. Even if it’s not so successful like Dynamite or Butter, it will still help Seventeen break into the Western market a bit, so it’s not a loss. Technically, SVT, in a sense, has nothing to lose in this English pre-release.

Also, K-fans are known to overreact often. The pre-release isn’t even meant to be targeted towards them, so it doesn’t matter if they are upset. Plus, Seventeen already has confirmed their May comeback, so they have no reason to be upset like some pampered child.

  • Pretty sure they made english song to target japan market.

Have you seen the impact dynamite have in japan market?

  • They shoudlve given enhypen English song. I don't think svt has potential to break into western Market they're too big.
