Should JYPE care about TWICE and ITZY are failing in South Korea?

  • It's no secret that TWICE and ITZY haven't been doing well at all on Korean charts the past couple of years: TWICE's title tracks have had trouble reaching the Top 10 for years now, and their latest song Scientist couldn't even get any higher than #32 on Gaon, while ITZY have been charting worse and worse with every new comeback.

NMIXX have charted abominably too, but they just debuted with a very hard-to-like song, so it's too early to tell how they'll eventually do on the Korean charts.

Question is, should JYPE care about it and do something about it, or just give up on South Korea and focus on the international market for TWICE and ITZY?

Each has its advantages: internationally is a more lucrative market where growth is possible now that K-pop is rising globally. But for the TWICE and ITZY members individually it might be better for their individual careers now and in the future if their groups are still popular and successful in South Korea.

So what do you think, are JYPE being smart with how they do things right now, or do you think they should adjust their strategy and focus more on doing well in SK?

    Approved the thread.
  • TWICE and ITZY are doing fine internationally. JYP should keep doing that.

They can handle forgetting about Korea. It would be a mistake in the long run, but for now they can handle bombing on the charts.

Boy groups chart badly too, and most of them are still thriving because of fanbase.
