An old article from Busker Busker
I am betting things would have only gotten worse, than better.
Evil editing, vote manipulations would be the least of it. K-pop industry is not at all a nice place, yet strangely the victims - idols, are themselves the poster boys/girls of the industry.
Also saw another article about how the ISAC show is an enormous drain on the groups, paid nothing, they still have to spring for the fans who come to the event and stuck there of the long hours of shooting etc., get flak if already struggling groups don't provide "goodies" etc.
Truly to get to be a trainee, then debut, then be a success, then have any degree of creative input, then have some semblance of control over schedules/contracts.
I now get why IU is so respected in the industry, not because of artistry, success etc., but because she rather quickly broke free of the system, before it broke her or going broke. That is probably why she is a role model, than anything.
