How much hate did each of these groups get before and around their debut?

    There are people that say that all the Big 4 groups get the same amount of hate directed towards them when they debut.

    I don't think so, I think there's a clear distinction, but that people simply forget when it isn't about their bias or they don't care.


    One difference I think is the amount of vicious, sabotaging and reputation and career damaging rumors launched towards a group and its members before they debut, in order to make that the narrative. Antis love that.


    * Reading the recent BP thread, BP and TWICE had it easy? TWICE with the popularity of a reality survival show just like Produce groups get, and BP had massive popularity when they debuted.

    * Red Velvet and also Lovelyz had hate directed at them around their debut (in case of Lovelyz it were some middle aged guys trying to sabotage members of the group?)


    * Itzy I don't know?

    * Aespa had it worst, with a lot of rumors before their debut and people trying to damage the reputation of Karina for good just like was tried (and partially successful) with incapacitating and clipping the wings of NCT Taeyong before his career and star status could take off.


    *NMIXX too, a lot of hate. But it seems directed towards their song and I can already see a quick turnabout happening, something that Aespa didn't get.


    Boy groups usually suffer hardly any hate before and around debut. Except for NCT and are there others?

    i don't remember itzy getting too much hate, but idk LOL
    i wasn't interacting with other kpop fans online when they debut.


    red velvet i KNOW got so much hate. i don't think aespa had it that bad tbh..

    Twice were attacked right out of the gate, I was around for their debut and following SIXTEEN when LOA first dropped and fell to like 99 on Melon, remember in the old system that was a real tank job, most thought they flopped and the hate piled on enormously.

    They were getting hate from Buddies since they were already out and were a rival group, esp after Rough when GF had a chance to be bigger than Twice, and of course famously they were attacked at debut by a huge 2nd gen fandom with all the usual copy cat, no talent, etc bullshit.


    It's also worth noting when it aired it wasn't a big success nor did Twice have a big fandom. The Story Begins sold less than Red Velvet's debut album in it's first month and notably Twice started re promoting LOA in January like 2 months after release since it was something of a sleeper hit and initially failed.

    Actually besides the yg Stan’s and 2ne1 fans bp was very loved. They were the kpop fandoms babies in their rookie year, other fandoms would even help vote for bp in award shows


    Itzy was very loved too, there was ppl coming for r yujin being center and their concept/ song but them as a group had so much hype and was loved.


    I think aespa had it worse after rv and twice. Rv debut during sm dark time in 2014, and twice was hated by int gams for their cute concept, they have some of the most disliked mv by kpop groups

    Nmixx is not getting any hate. Why do some of you want groups to be victims so badly?

    what aespa had to face, bare in mind that most of these happened before their song was out:

    1. Karina rumor involving 2 famous bg members and bullying rumor

    2. Giselle rumor of using drugs and not being a good person because she partied just like every young people

    2. Ningning attacked because she was close with nct china line and saying they're handsome

    3. Rumor of aespa bullying sm rookies and even rumor that it caused someone to die

    4. Their concept was hated when it was introduced, saying that it will be used to sexual related things and it would mess with girls' body image and mental health

    5. Black Mamba lowest rated debut song on melon

    6. People spreading misinformation that aespa is a result of a company abusing uyghur

    Yeah, I think people might be exaggerating, I think it might be more hate towards the song and JYP plagiarism controversies that happened around their debut. Not towards the group and NMIXX themselves.



    Just like when a group gets huge sales immediately at their debut, or even before their debut with predebut orders, is a telltale sign of (company) stans, I think that lots of vicious rumors and hate before debut is a sign of company antis: antis of the company of that group that they also direct towards their groups.

    aespa was hands down the most hated gg people literally wrote essays hating their personality, their concept, their visuals and after debut they also rejoiced that black mamba flopped.

    Twice had to deal with rumors like Nayeon being a "bully", Chaeyoung not jumping high enough during Like Ohh Ahh promotions and Tzuyu being a Taiwanese Independence fighter. I can't speak much on Red Velvet, but Yeri did get a lot of hate when she was added in 2015.

    In my opinion Aespa girls was hands down the most hated girlgroup i've seen and i think no other girlgroup can compete with the huge amount of hate and fake rumor they received at debut

    Survival show popularity? Sixteen was a a flop show. Itzy had it easy. Aespa was attacked the most so was RV especially after yeri was added. BP was attacked mostly by 2ne1 fans but those who hated twice used ti hype them up sm even though they debuted with a pak they weren't the most trendy group when they debuted.

    Blackpink didn't have it easy.


    Yes they were popular. They had excellent debut songs and showed a lot of charisma onstage.

    They were also hated. 2NE1 had been very popular and there was a huge amount of resentment towards Blackpink from their fanbase and YG stans in general that Blackpink debuted after 2NE1's disbandment.

    - Jennie was harassed before debut. People found her old social media accounts and mocked her skin tone, her pictures with some male friends, and her posts. They falsely accused her of being a bully.

    - Lisa had an edited picture circulated by trolls, taken the day of her YG audition. They even gave her a moustache, like a kid from a well-off family who'd been in a dance group for years and was auditioning for a major company wouldn't know to manage facial hair.

    - Rose was criticized from debut for having a big face, like she could help that.


    And now fans trend hashtags if an idol doesn't get a gift at a fansign... No, not easy at all.

    Aespa had it the worse man, I had never seen so many people get so personal about 4 girls they've never met In my life it was disgusting. Allkpop was a big indication of that all you need to do is check the old forum before the update to see the personal abuse the girls were getting (not to mention twitter and reddit) that's why so many people that hated them aren't active anymore I hope they are ashamed and disgusted with themselves. Idols are human being to, what was their goal? for aespa members to commit suicide? those people will have a special place in hell

    Not one person has been personal about Nmixx and the members everyone hates the song or Jyp so I don't know why their fans keep complaining. Aespa and Blackpink have received the worst hate all personal and specific attack, probably why they have the biggest or supportive fandom....

    blackpink got a lot of hate when they started to become successful it was awful but during their debut they didn't get that much hate except from blackjacks.
