Why do kpop fans glorify global streams but dismiss Korean streams?

  • They say local streams aren't trustworthy because they're manipulated by fans. But they also use global streams as the biggest sign of popularity and even music quality. Isn't this hypocritical? Why is mass streaming by Korean fans dismissed and mocked even, while mass streaming by international fans glorified and celebrated?

  • Probably because their biases are bombing on the Korean charts while competing groups and artists they dislike are thriving on Korean charts.

  • I always really thought highly of Korean streams. Like genie and others. I didn't know that those streams were diminished? I remember we got Stray Kids top 10 on first day of NOEASY release on Genie and they were so excited. I think Korean streaming platforms are equally important and music shows like Music Core score heavily with such charts.

  • Spotify filters a ton of streams. Melon doesn't. It's easier to manipulate

  • Spotify and YouTube numbers are as inflated as Melon numbers, people just don't notice it because they can't see the unique listeners.

  • you need to do well on both otherwise it isn't that impressive

  • Just look at how bad longevity most kpop songs have on global Spotify chart. The streams are regulated for filtered streams.

  • Spotify filters out a lot of streams on their charts. Usually large amounts for artists with big chart obsessed fandoms

    Charts, yes. But they still counted 10 streams per user, now raised to 20.

    But anytime someone talks about Spotify numbers they talk about the song counter, not the charts counter.

  • That is definitely not the case on akp though, a bunch of people pretend doing well on k-charts is on the same lvl as huge yt, spotify numbers.

  • The Korean population is the about the same amount as the population of Florida and Texas combined.

  • My faves do well in both global n Korean streams, so I dunno what you're saying op.

  • international streams are the ones easily manipulated lol.they're just saying that cause their faves flunk on korean charts.

  • what is even worse is if an act is not doing well in korea and internationally

  • Should we glorify those who flop domestically and internationally then?????

    :pepe-hehe::pepe-hehe::pepe-hehe:

  • International unique listeners is greater than 300k unique listener in some rando chart

  • Those whose faves flop on international charts will glorify the domestic ones. Those whose faves don't do well in the korean charts will uplift the international ones. Common sense
