Which 3rd gen girl group release the most hits during the summer?

  • Im not talking about the amount of releases or whether or not they always release a song/album in the summer. I'm talking about the songs released during the summer (June-August) and whether or not the song does well.

    Approved the thread.
  • This is very specific, only the songs released in June to August. But if we check for the songs released in those months and how they did in the Summer months

Blackpink: Boombayah (no. 7), Whistle (no. 1), AIIYL (no. 3), D4 (no. 1), HYLT (no. 1)

Red Velvet: Red Flavor (no. 1), Power Up (no. 1), Queendom (no. 5)

GFriend: Me Gustas Tu (no. 8), Navillera (no. 1), Love Whisper (no. 2)

Mamamoo: Um Oh Ah Yeh (no. 3), Yes I Am (no. 2), Egotistic (no. 4), Rainy Season (no. 2)

    TWICE: DTNA (no. 1), More & More (no. 4), Alcohol-Free (no. 6)

I-dle: Hann (no. 8), Dumdi Dumdi (no. 8)

    ... I-dle is 3rd Gen, right? Or 4th?

  • 2016: Whistle was a hit

2017 : both as if it's your last and red flavor same level on charts but i do think red flavor was a bit more popular. Just check gallup

    2018 : ddu-du-ddu-du was the biggest

2019 : both were massive flops

2020: How you like that was massive

2021 : Both are similar but alcohol free did a bit better?

    Blackpink wins this

  • Blackpink by far. Hylt, aityl, and d4 huge hits. Whistle did well too.

  • BP > RV > TWICE > MMM

    IDLE is 4th gen.

I forgot GFRIEND. Second or third spot maybe.

  • Nah only red flavour did well power up and queendom were overshadowed by other songs

    This is false.

Power Up managed to rank #1 on the Korean charts and even got a PAK (Perfect All Kill). If that's not doing well, then most of the hit songs mentioned here have not been doing well since a lot of them didn't even reach #1 let alone get a PAK.

Queendom ranked #5 at its peak. Not super, but still better than a lot of other songs managed to rank.

Even in longevity those songs did better than some people give them credit for.

    To compare:

    - Power Up ranked #61 on Gaon's annual chart. In contrast, TWICE's More & More and Alcohol-Free with 1.5-2.5 months more charting, only ranked #64 and #68.

    - Queendom right now in its 25th week ranks #72 on Gaon's weekly chart, while Alcohol-Free in its 25th week ranked #127.

Power Up ranked #1 and was one of the very rare songs that achieved PAK and still did alright on Gaon's annual chart with only 4.5 months of charting. Queendom topped higher and has better longevity than TWICE's best performing songs of the past couple of years.

In short, if Red Velvet has been doing badly with those songs and those results, then TWICE has been doing simply abominable with their Summer songs.
