It's true that fans threatened to boycott. But Leeteuk, Heechul and Kangin were openly antagonistic and shady toward him. They deadass left his wedding halfway through and went to have sushi out and made sure to share selfies in social media to make their antagonism known, and that only encouraged those crazed fans further.

Heechul redeemed himself later by publicly expressing regret of the way he reacted but the other two didn't and Leeteuk should be the last person to receive any kind of praise regarding this issue, not to mention that what you said about him trying to convince Sungmin to stay isn't even accurate lol

Anyway, it's true that Sungmin chose to step down, it's true that, unlike Kangin, he was supposed to participate in the Black Suit comeback (Heck his voice is in the studio recording and he participated in the recording of their vlive comeback show and had to be edited out later on) but it's also true that some members' attitude was absolutely disgraceful and bolstered the crazy fans in their hateful attitudes. My only consolation is they'll definitely get their due karma when they decide to get married and still have a career.
