Honest thoughts on vaccines and antivaxxers?

  • So the sentiment here is vax vs anti-vax, which I think should be separated into 3 groups. 1) who are knowledgeable enough to get vax, 2) who are knowledgeable but are either scare or have other personal reason not to take it, and finally 3) anti-vaxxer who goes out of their ways to prevent other people from getting it, by spreading false info and what not.

I don't need to explain group 1, as for group 2, if you're in that group I hope you follow rules and protect yourself well by wearing mask and adhere to lockdowns. It is the least you can do. I do understands that having an unknown drug entering your body is extremely scary, because you will never know the side effect of it. However, that is also true for any drugs you take, example; aspirin. On the label aspirin provides you with the KNOWN side effects. It is known because they did studies and found that XYZ group reacted ABC ways. This is due to individual unique body reaction. No one is the same. They would do experiment on a controlled group (doesn't always mean human experiment) to test out new drugs, and the group that received the most positive result vs negative ones; they will adjust the formula to which the error or outlier of side effect to a low percentage (can someone please fact check me on drugs experimentation). Then the drug is approved and roll out. That's why all drugs have warning label, they need to put it there so you don't sue them, as they do not know how each individually would react. They can only put a generalization of: if you're pregnant, if you take XYZ medicine, or if you smoke etc.. because those are KNOWN errors. The vaccine is not meant to kill you, each individual is unique.

When you are born, you would also require to take vaccines like HepB, Influenza, IPV and etc (maybe some country don't, where I am from, you do). When you migrate to a new country to live there, they also require you to take a vaccine. When it was introduced, there are probably the same amount of skepticism around it like you have with covid-vax. However, personally, I still think you should get vaxxed. A vaxxed person can prevent the mutation of covid variant as oppose to a person that is not vaxxed. Mutation variant will only prolong covid as they need to chunk out new vaccines. It will be the norm. If you decided not to get vaxxed, please do your part to masked up and social distancing. A mild symptom vs the ER. Sure, some who is not vaxxed also only get mild symptoms, but there are also who is in the ER because of it. It is taking up a room that could be used for other dire patient. Government should help expand hospital, in a perfect world, yes, but this is the reality of it. They helped provided the vaccines. At the end of the day, I just hope you protect yourself well, do it for yourself as well as those around you. :pepelove1:

As for group 3. Please don't do that. If you do not want the vaccine, that is fine, please don't prevent or spread false info so others would be hesitant about it.

A vaccine don't just suddenly appear out of no where, it takes years and years of research. Clinical test of various of vaccines and drugs were being worked on for years, and experts had to carefully select the one that could combat covid. That is how you have the vaccine within a year. Earth is a scary place, we probably have more unknown viruses stored somewhere, i.e ice glacier. :pepewash:
