Itzy has the power to surpass Blackpink

    Itzy is already so successful internationally, and they are the 4th gen leaders. if jyp actually gave them better songs, within their vocal range, itzy could have a chance on competing with Blackpink no doubt.

    I'm not a fan of both, in theory, Itzy can surpass BP.

    Reality though, is just too far fetched.

    This is an itzy set up but BP are not getting surpassed by anyone, did you miss the part where they are far away the most streamed gg on all platforms in 2021 despite smaller discography and no comeback. They release one song and it's over for everyone

    Sorry but this is kind of a stupid argument, artists get surpassed by other artists all the time, even more in kpop where every group seems to have an exp date. That doesnt take away their legacy but I'm sure back in the day everyone said SNSD would never be surpassed either.

    Comparing the two is bound to incite division between the two fanbases however small the divisions would be.

    Blackpink do not come back as a group about a year but all four of them are still mentioned in worldwide. You know how strong they are.

    Even when BP "disband" will they really be surpassed? I don't see any active girl groups with the potential to reach BP's global streaming numbers. No one is even touching 2017 BP western charting as of right now. It will be up to HYBE and YG ngg

    I agree with you. Itzy have star power, they have great stage presence and charisma, and those things are more important than any other factor. But their songs regularly suck, in part at least. It doesn't bode well when fans say "Now I've listened to it 25 times it's really growing on me!" Loco was an improvement anyway.


    JYP needs to approach who SM are buying their songs from. In Itzy's hands Next Level could have been DDDD Pt 2.

    Itzy do not have the vocal capabilities or rap talent of aespa to pull off an aespa song. With DCT all 4 aespa girlies giving powerful vocals you all should stop setting itzy up.

    I don't know about surpass BP, but they definitely have what it takes to be the second biggest kpop girl group in the West

    A more "western" friendly sound than most other GG's

    Charismatic and distinct (both visually and vocally) members

    A distinct style

    Most of the members speak English to a conversational level, with the exception of Yeji, who is improving


    Which is kind of the template that Blackpink set


    I kind of feel that ITZY was always created to be a western push group and would have been heavily pushed except that Covid got in the way and JYP just went into a holding pattern instead.

    MITM and Loco are two songs that weren’t liked a lot, Wannabe’s their only song international audience loved. Dalla Dalla does not count it was a hit in Korea not internationally.


    If they do songs like Swipe? Maybe. But even then part of why BP are so popular is that they don’t SEEM like a Kpop group. Itzy do. BP look like western celebs rather than a Kpop gg. BP is 3/4 english speakers. Itzy is much MUCH softer than BP concept wise.
