It makes sense to have different expectations depending on the group's popularity and how they have been performing before on charts and also on the context of the release (promotion or not etc). But saying that a song is a flop because it does not performed as well as their most succesful release is just stupid. No matter who released it, a song with more than 600 milion digital points for instance cannot be called a flop, it's just nonsense. And the opposite is also true, sometimes people say that a song is a hit simply because it was more succesful than the group's other releases.
People putting incredibly high expectations on group they hate just so they can say that they underperform really make me laugh. PTD is clearly a hit in Korea, but apparently it's not even sufficient for some who said BTS severely underperformed with this song
