Multi-story building partially collapses near Miami Beach, authorities say

A multi-story building partially collapsed in Florida's Miami-Dade County early Thursday morning, authorities said.

The building, which appears to be residential, is located in the small, beachside town of Surfside, about 6 miles north of Miami Beach. Multiple police and fire departments from across Miami-Dade County have been deployed to assist, according to the Miami Beach Police Department.

The Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said it has sent more than 80 units to the scene.

Late maintenance. a 2018 report of the building notes extensive cracking and spalling in the concrete structures that were in the parking garage below the building. the slab itself was noted to be very damaged and cracked, also noted to be affected by poor waterproofing of the pool deck.

As observation , NOT saying it will be this way , but *MIGHT* well be ... Those *BUILDING INSPECTORS* who stated (wrote) that they saw DANGER in the situation , are NOW at RISK to be ARRESTED and put in PRISON ... Because (as EXPERTS) they *UNDER ESTIMATED* the DANGER , resulting in DEATHS ... Those who IGNORED their REPORTS , will most likely be JUST FINE in all of it ... The USA LEGAL SYSTEM is a SHAMEFUL JOKE (my view) ... NOBODY should be proud of it (USA LEGAL SYSTEM).
