normally i skip lunch on the weekends ....i had two sandwiches and a few chips.

Hihi true, true. We have a lot of iconic dishes though, and this potato is one of them. It's cooked potato, coarsly sliced or grated and then fried with onions. They scoop it like that when serving, it's not really balls.

Not really, it's not fried in balls, it's just served like that. Potatos are first cooked as whole, then pealed, then sliced or grated. Then you heat some oil in the pan (or some people do it with lard) and put chopped onions in first and fry them a bit. Next you drop in all the grated/sliced potatoes and just stir a bit until they become mushy and a bit more brown. Add salt and pepper. That's it. It looks like balls on photos, because they usually serve them on a plate with soup ladle, so they stay this way.
