The obvious main difference is that 4 gen fandoms are more "woke" than the previous gen. Besides that, there seems to be more emphasis on appearing victimized as a fandom (the company, the knetz, the hatetz, the trollz). Like no 4 gen group has even gone through something like what Tzuyu did with China or SNSD did with black ocean but they want to make others know they've been 'suffering'.
However, the 3rd gen was more into the "underdog" narrative compared to 4th gen. And the last big difference is now 4 gen's greater focus on international (western) success, and not just in Korea or Japan.
