It depends on the country. In my country one can only be emancipated at 16 or 17 years old (it makes no sense to emancipate at 18 or later). You only need that both parents authorize it. It's useful for when the teenager wants to manage their own life before 18.
Disownment, on the other hand, can only be done under specific circumstances. Murder or attempted murder, violence or abuse, defamation, abandonment during health problems, etc. It means you lose your inheritance rights for committing a serious offense against the one you would inherit from.

I was younger than that. They try to make up for it now at least on my bio mother's but spend years telling me I was a mistake among other things. Trust me it hurts but in my experience I ended up growing to be my own person and to break the toxic cycle my biological family is on
