because they thought it wouldn't do well i guess lol. he ofc didn't want that so they decided to try making it on their own. and thank god they did manage to do that. female characters in the show are awesome (thank you, jacob) but this story isn't about them.
i read that svetlana character was completely changed. in the books they started as a hook up and then became friends. i like this version better. especially since ilya is desperately in need of a friend.
Display Morei think that cringe dialogue can be elevated by good actors. i mean, there's nothing really special about this show, it's a romance story but it's deservingly highly rated. imo it can be doable.
people who are complaining about sex scene - i get them. but they are there for a reason, they are part of character development. first 2 episodes were really heavy on casual sex but then in ep 4 we see on screen that everything changes. i'm glad there's no sex scene in ep 5; yes, we get, they like to have sex but the focus is on emotional aspect. ep 6 had two - one is funny, 2nd is passionate. it seems that there are more than that in the books but i'm glad they ended up not including them.

we've had a lot of explicit straight sex but if this was straight sex nobody would even comment in that way; nobody would call it soft porn, they'll just say it's explicit. i guess people aren't used to getting explicit gay sex scenes.
