Unsure how popular they are but I would add J-pop group Hana. So far they’ve released more interesting stuff than most 5th gen groups, and mics are always on .

It does make me wonder if Kpop companies know people are satisfied with whatever, so they don’t bother trying. I think 2025 had the biggest feeling of that

What I find so weird about this group is that many of their lyrics make their songs feel like they're aimed squarely at children, or perhaps were even written by children, while other aspects of their whole shtick are completely inappropriate for a young audience. They need to decide who their target audience actually is, because this bipolar approach is going to leave them in a weird limbo that minimizes their reach.

Anyway it’s extremely obvious who they’re making music for :

They’re making music for a teenage American audience. They dress like teens here, they are using slang like teens here and their entire concept seems to be American teenager and aimed the American teenage audience that uses tiktok.

Every second reel on tiktok in the demographic is exactly the same aesthetics as katseye.

If your sensibilities don’t align with the American teenage audience, you’re not going to like or enjoy katseye.

But that doesn’t make them vulgar or creepy. They’re behaving like teens/young adults for other teens/young adults.

I’m older so not all of their concepts appeal to me all the time but they’re not doing anything weird the average teen here isn’t doing.

People need to just find the music they enjoy if Katseye doesn’t appeal to them. Gnarly was a hit. Gabriella was a hit. This may or may not be a hit but it’s clear who and what katseye want to appeal to.

Anyway answering the question : depends on how viral it goes on TikTok.

I eventually liked gnarly and spaghetti because of tiktok, might end up liking this too.

One thing I will question is why aren’t they singing more songs to showcase?

It feels we rarely get songs to showcase vocals with their title tracks or b-sides. I understand they’re going more for a care free image, but it’s a shame we don’t hear their vocals more. I would like to see their takes on r&b songs because I think they can have more interesting music if they explored that
