Focus, Pretty Please and Style it is

I think SM has chosen the right tracks for promotion this time

I enjoyed "Focus," and I really look forward to its performance video. However, setting aside "Pretty Please" (since I've listened to it a bunch), after a single run-through of the new B-sides, I think they all appealed to me slightly more than the title track. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed "Focus," but the 2nd gen vibes of "Apple Pie" and the Red Velvet-coded "Flutter" resonated with me more. I was most surprised by "Blue Moon"—it's a beautiful track. If "Flutter" had gotten rid of the unnecessary intro and stopped just teasing me with the brass, it could have secured the top spot. While the brass-sounding instrumentation throughout and the sax transitioning into a vinyl scratch at the end of the chorus was okay, I would have loved it more if they had committed to adding a short sax solo for the transition from the pre-chorus to the second chorus.

I think it's a really solid mini-album that has the potential to attract new fans.

So far like this. Blue Moon really got me... The guitar creates such an interesting atmosphere, not to mention those harmonies. Love their vocals.

Even on YouTube, it isn't included. Under releases, FOCUS - The 1st Mini Album only shows five tracks.

Finally listened to it and it was solid on first listen. I think they went with the right promoted tracks for this comeback. I thought the b-sides were strong and focus was a bit of a slow burn for me because I enjoyed it more after a few more listens. I can't decide on my favorites but I will go with Apple Pie and Style. However, I can see things changing after more listens.
