I heard it a while back but didn't understand the meaning beyond the use of 'paw' in relation to the cat motif but apparently:

"The name PAWMPAWM is a combination of the word “pomme,” which means “apple” in French, as well as the English word “paw,” referring to a cat’s paw."

Also, I've seen that it's supposed to have the general meaning of 'Apple of my eye'. Something about MEOVV’s fandom being so precious that you wouldn’t mind putting it in your eyes. A bit odd, but then I remembered Meovv actually stands for 'My Eyes Open VVide', so I guess there's some relation. But yes, that was the first association I had too. I do believe it is pronounced like 'pompom' too.
