So... do you think you can be an idol?

    I'm not sure there are even 10 kids in the entire US that could withstand the tortures inflicted on Kpop trainees. To the average Kpop label, Idols truly are just hunks of meat to be sold at the butcher shop and consumed by fans.


    I was kinda getting back into Loona's megabop "Star", scouring YT and TW for clips (apparently ARTMS performed it at recent concerts, it was amazing watching my bias Heejin doing the dance break again).


    Suddenly, TW sent me a tweet regarding a confession from Loona's Hyunjin. She revealed that several members including Heejin were apparently involved in a SERIOUS car accident that Blockberry initially played off as minor with no one getting hurt. When in reality, members went to the ER and came out with casts for their injuries THAT THEY ENDED UP TAKING OFF so they could perform a pre-recording for their debut release.

    contestants battle it out in the heart of Seoul for a place as a trainee in one of the top mid nugu companies.

    Learn skills like singing lip syncing, dancing, rapping (use of inappropriate language may or may not disqualify you) plus other important skills like sleep management, weight management, (lack of) income management, anti technology management (who needs access to phones or computers or tablets when you are training 24/7)

    But if we were born in Korea, we would have to deal with the stifling work/study/appearance culture, even if we weren't idols. Don't think we'd be safe from physical abuse by parents or bosses if we performed poorly. After all, the culture in that country is extremely competitive, and this is reflected in all fields, not just idol careers.
