I do not know whether Gallup will allow virtual idols to chart in its annual KPop polls, but with a stagnant and sluggish year in KPop, it cannot be denied that Huntr/x and Saja Boys are the most successful "KPop" acts of all in this year.
aespa flopped.
Illit flopped.
Many others flopped.
Non-Korean "KPop" has won decisively, and KPop has no other recourses.
BlackPink is having its last dance, and BTS, with Hybe in big turmoil as Bang is in big trouble, will have its last dance next year, but that would be about it. Stray Kids, an Australian act, might remain but that will be about it. LeSserafim is in its 3rd year, and while it will retain some popularity it will never threaten the top.
And the singer considered to be the least likely to flop in Korea also flopped.
KPop's Senior Singer, who attained that position when she was given a Lifetime Achievement Award by MAMA in 2014 when she was 21 (actually 1,341) years old, abused the position to the hilt, demanding filial duty from all acts her junior, while contributing virtually nothing towards to the advancement of Kpop and undermining it whenever she felt like it.
But, with her stature as the Senior Singer, other acts could not attack her. Laboum had some success but then it imploded. Suran also had some success , with a song from Agust D, but that was the last time she was heard of.
After attaining teh position of Senior Singer, she never bothered to show up in the concerts of any idols junior to her, except for Jung Eunji and Akmu, acts friendly to her.
She never attended the concerts of BTS , BlackPink and any Kpop acts you could name, since Seniors do not show up in evens held by their juniors because it is kind of beneath them.
So, a tectonic change took place when
the Senior Singer showed up in Twice's concert, a major , tectonic event which basically showed that her days of Senior Singer is over.
So, in addition of she being the Former Owner of Edam Entertainment , she becomes the Former Senior Singer of KPop at the age of 32 (actually 1,352).
It is fitting that the end of her tenure as a Senior Singer coincides the conquest of KPop by a Netflix made virtual idols since, being nonhumans, Huntr/x and Saja Boys and anything else i nthe sequel are not likely to pay filial duty to the now Former Senior Singer.
