Why Do We Still Prioritize Melon to Show Domestic success?

can you tell me why Circle Chart don't have a link for Youtube Music when they provided all the other music platform links on their website? is this suppose to indicate Circle Chart don't count Youtube Music on their website scoring data?

I'm assuming Circle Chart is the biggest indicator of domestic chart performance in Korea?

I think if you chart on top 10 or 20 for a whole year then it will be removed. If it was inconsistent then it can be re added maybe?

iirc there were concern because the way YT counts streams are different + lack transparency.. correct me if i recall wrongly

I'd be somewhat interested in the demographics of the services as well, as that would very much influence what is being listened to.

Eg, what do Korean Gen Z gravitate to? The Ahjummas?

and also when it comes to Real Time All Kill(RAK) and Perfect All Kill(PAK) in the domestic chart, that is determined by the Instiz ichart

if you have a look there, they weigh the significance of Melon chart the heaviest among other charts

they value Melon streaming the most among other platforms there.

so saying youtube music has more importance in Korea is kinda not really true?

yea, notice how it says 'as of 2021'?

so they haven't updated the points distribution for 4 years now, alot has changed in the span of 4 years, maybe they'll change it in the fifth year, we'll see.

I agree with Taemin's take. Sure yt sk is now the biggest, but if you can't enter the charts that ironically requires less numbers, but you are having millions of these numbers just on yt sk then something is wrong and it doesn't reflect the real popularity in sk. A hit song is a hit song in all platforms. Excluding charts that are still counted by circle chart just bc yt is now the most consumed doesn't make sense.

People still use Melon, Genie, Flo, etc etc and acts still go to their awards shows to receive awards based on their results.
