    The definition of “girl crush” seems to be more broad these days & there can be many variations of the concept. Music wise IMO, girl crush songs often incorporate more hip-hop, trap & raps to make for a stronger sound. People may interpret that as “dark” but it doesn’t always have to be. Girl groups take on a fierce image & the song is meant to have an empowering message & feel to it.
