Do you classify pizza as a sandwich or a pie?

Pizza is one of those foods that sparks endless debate. Some argue that it’s closer to a pie because of its crust and toppings, while others say it’s a form of an open-faced sandwich. Technically, if you go by the definition of a pie, pizza fits the bill since it has a baked crust with toppings. But if you fold a slice, does that make it a sandwich? It’s a fun argument that probably depends on how you eat it!

I believe they're related to pies. I know classic pizzas from Italian culture honestly look more like pies than what people today would call a pizza. Though I would say they've evolved into their own thing.

I definitely don't see it as a sandwitch but in my language we also don't call it a pie.

I also don't personally think that pizza dough is a bread dough, it's simply a savory yeast dough (and you can also make a sweet type of the same dough and use it in certain types of cakes or patisserie).

Fun question though, I can't believe I jus wrote so much about pizza dough lol
