Rosé was inspired to create "number one girl" after reading hate comments about her. It's not a song about craving a romantic interest's attention. It's a song about wanting to be perceived well by the fans and haters.
Keep in mind the comments that hurt Rosé the most likely came from her own group's "fans." I don't even think these people should even consider themselves BLINKS. They constantly pitch the girls against each other and burn them out, potentially putting them at the brink of disbandment.
They want to overwork them not because they appreciate the members' hard work or want new music to appreciate, but because they want to weaponize charting success to brag and retaliate against other fandoms.
We're lucky Rosé, Jennie, Lisa, and Jisoo are strong enough to stay above that.
I want people to listen to this song and try to really feel what Rosé felt.
