Sadly, it seems like not many users here are interested in this topic. Still, I’m curious who was more successful and had a bigger fandom at their peak? There’s so little discussion comparing these two groups. From what I know, Gfriend made a huge impact right from their debut, while Mamamoo is known for their strong individual appeal. If we compare them at their peak, who would rank 4th after Twice, Bp and Rv?

I'll just say.
In terms of PEAK, GFriend perhaps peaked slightly higher, but if you factor in the overall length of the peak and consistent, sustained popularity, it's Mamamoo rather easily.
They have way more hit songs, multiple #1s for their solo promotions, and they were big enough at their peaks to compete with and out chart Big 3 company groups.
Peak GFRIEND was STRONG, but it was so short-lived that Mamamoo win out overall.

Also, I don't like how the thread is framed. People always act like the top 3 girl groups during third generation were always Twice/BP/RV, when that simply is not true.
2014 it was Mamamoo and RV by default
2015 it was RV, Mamamoo and GFRIEND by default. Twice debuted in late 2015
2016 it was Twice, GFriend, Mamamoo
2017 it was Twice, Red Velvet, Mamamoo
2018 it was BP, Mamamoo, Twice
2019 it was BP, Twice, RV/MMM (they were basically equals--both HIP and Psycho were huge)
And from there, THEN it was Twice/BP/RV
Although Twice started their digital decline in the years after

MAMAMOO, but Gfriend is close. With a better company, they could've a better career!
Honestly, 3rd gens Holy Trinity was Mamamoo, Gfriend and Red Velvet, even tho BIG4 fans don't like to accept it!
Blackpink was never a real Kpop group, they were a global group, just like TWICE, but at least they didn't forget about Korea.
