To answer the question, I don't feel Kpop can realistically "collide" with the west much more than it already has. I also think that, given the great degree to which Kpop is alread inspired by the west, both musically and in many other ways, these fears of a western cultural bogeyman tend to be pretty irrational. It's not like Korean companies are ever going to lose control of the industry to foreign elements (for better or worse.) The west has shown increased interest in Kpop, but I've seen no reason to believe it has any interest in assimilating it. Individual Kpop acts adapting to better meet the expectations of western audiences has been entirely voluntary.

I'm not sure what sort of political conflict could arise in particular, since it should be about the music, other than maybe westerners criticizing the harsh idol training system or other Korean cultural quirks, but that already happens.
