Do you think there will be a KPop figure which will rake in more money in 2024 than IU?

  • I have no idea what is the typical scale.

but supposedly includes the dancers, security folk etc., she might have splurged for the translator too.. April Kim, who has become a mini celebrity of her own.

And there might have been family too.

A search showed that April Kim is based in Singapore and was the interpreter for Baemon and Taeyeon, and Lee Jieun used her at her Singapore and Malaysian concerts as well as her US concerts (apparently she used a local in her London concert) so it is likely that she bought April a business class ticket all the way to SG which is half a world away.

I think Lee Jieun will get more economical as she gains more foreign expertise

It is said Taylor Swift uses 50-200 staff, smaller for US concerts and larger for foreign concerts, and BTS uses 100-200 staff

Yes, April Kim went viral for her translation work for CN BLUE, but yes she has done Baemon, Taeyeon as well and IU has increased her profile by naming/calling her during stages.

I think IU does not outsource to local/temps much and prefers her own team to a great extent even when travelling.

But yes, that might change if she does more foreign events.

However, I am of the opinion that she should not do at least the West for couple more years or the foolishness of English songs.

Much of her charm comes for her being recognized only by the cognoscenti of Kpop and not the masses, she should not dilute that brand, to achieve more reach, but remain somewhat exotic.

    But it is her call.

  • At her age it is unlikely for her to begin to sing in English , especially when she prefers to write all the lyrics herself.

It is likely that she will spend 2025 acting (her drama with Park Bogum has finished filming but she will probably do something else) so she won't have a foreign concert on next year, and her 2026 tour, at the age of 1,347, will probably be her last major global tour as she enters the Korean age of 34 and will have to think about what to do with the second phase of her life.

  • Beside singing, acting and songwriting - I could see her writing a novel, screenplays and maybe directing in the far future. Backup plan- a hotel chain or a office worker at a engineering/construction firm :finger-heart:
