  • Lol yeah, I saw that. Just finished the second episode.

    I've just started

1st episode is barely 49 minutes

I was expecting 'regular' kdrama episodes about 80-90 minutes long

and a lot of Suzy in them...

but it seems that all episodes are this short and there are just 9 of them ;(

Maybe its because all the episodes are released at the same time so even 9 EPs is too long for me lmao. Netflix Originals are usually 45-50 minutes long tho, My Name and Love Alarm episodes were also under the 1 hour mark.

I always consider those as one and done

    or one in a run

for those with similar episode runtime I think Celebrity was on point with 12 total episodes

Nineteen to Twenty was also same way, it had 13 episodes

but both Start Up and Twenty Five Twenty One had longer episode times and 16 total episodes

    and both were huge hits

  • Start Up and 2521 weren't Netflix Originals, they aired on TV in SK as well so they had longer episodes + total EPs as well.

If you're saying a drama's success depends on number of episodes, you're wrong. Nobody likes to watch lengthy dramas these days. People prefer shorter dramas witth 10-12 EPs max cuz they are easier to stream. My Name, Doona, Love Alarm are all Netflix Originals with 8 episodes each.

Nineteen to Twenty is a reality show.

I've just talked overall, didn't meant anything about Netflix originals

still I remember that Narcos Mexico episodes were at least hour long if not more...

overall I get that people are into shorter series

still 8-9 episodes when each is 49 minutes including captions and opening it's not really that much

I'm watching Good day to be a Dog, and Killing Vote recently and one has 60 min, other has 70-75 min long episodes

one will have 14 and other wil have 12 episodes, it's kind of perfect for me

16 episodes 75-80 min long each is bit too much but in same time when something is as amazing and extraordinary as It's Okay to Not be Okay, or Woo Young Woo then... I'm all in for that 16 episodes

  • I thought Doona was a decent drama for a few different reasons. Bae Suzy is a sublime beauty, convincing, and natural in this role. Given the current "drama" surrounding Fifty-Fifty and past lawsuits between idols and their companies the topic is timely. Doona is primarily a romance, but also a minor commentary on the many difficulties an idol might face, and the potential for burnout. IMHO the story line faltered a bit at times, and I'd be remiss if I didn't mention there has been some controversy over the ending. However no major investment of time here (9 relatively short episodes) and an easy watch, so ultimately I give Doona the thumbs up.
