PRAISE BE my friend PRAISE BE

I think all three of them (plus hitman bang if you add hybe) will always be tied to their respective companies in one way shape or another

Blessed that they are finally away and all acomplices haunted for their role in everything especially after all other idols sue and reveal all the dirt in their contracts.

Who needs HBO's The Idol when we'd rather have

KBS Or MBC's The Idol - a legal documentary on the ins and outs of kpop contracts!!!!

it'll be far damning and scandalous than HBO's The Idol thats for sure

Yeah it will be like Korean version of Jhonny Kitagawa documentary, it's not all sunshine and rainbows here... so many idols had terrible fates and so many continue to do so.

    I agree.

Why is the kpop world so secretive? Why don't people come out and reveal all it's dirty business?

There isn't a single revealing documentary about it like it is in Western music.

I guess Kpop is run by gangs or whatever where snitches are ended. :(

All we have is Jessica's story fiction enough to hide the truth.

We deserve one cool tell all film or something.

  • I think it is to do with the entertainment industry as a whole that even as a former disgruntled idol or an idol with a really shitty contract there might be punitive clauses or Non-disclosure clauses in them that prevents them from saying anything

and also even aside I mean we all know Jessica is basically blacklisted from all of the music shows and whatnot hence her and her chinese career

It's a dictatorship and idols can't fight for their rights.

I think the go not being that supportive of idols makes them easily forgettable and replaceable so to have any keep their careers, they have to agree to be fully controlled.

pretty much like most companies and employees around the world lol

those with the means of production control the producers!!!

it's like hydra (of marvel fame) cut off one head and two more will replace it - in this case cut off one idol and two more will replace it...

for every idol or group that gets hard done by their company or mistreatment or whatever there's just more that will fill in the shoes

  • for every idol or group that gets hard done by their company or mistreatment or whatever there's just more that will fill in the shoes

So true, people are desperate and companies capitalise on that and get away with a lot of things.

But I hope those that have the means to stand against injustice done against them should do so, esp when their worth isn't just tied to being in a certain label

which is why it's good when you hear idols from big3/4 companies speaking out like your exos and whatnot since hopefully it does make a difference...

because other companies can see "well if idols at SM are treated like shit and it's SM" we at [insert less known/nugu company can treat them on par or even worse" without repercussion...

  • Idols will always be the losers no matter what that's why I love the likes of Jessica who said enough is enough. That's just what it should be.

I do think generally speaking the more awareness and knowledge idols have in regards to contracts and finances and transparency the better since they have more power (albeit still less than the companies itself) when negotiating with the companies and that it has increased compared to yesteryear

Well she must think Psy and Jay park are not evil. Because she signed with him and later signed to two of Jay Parks labels. The difference between the evils of Johnny's entertainment and kpop despite kpop being directly molded from the jpop system. There's no singular monopoly and controlling force that has the "backroom" deals to silence everyone. There's plenty of small and medium sized agencies who are looking at any opportunities to gut their competition. Example with sm entertainment, they accused another agency of poaching their idols claiming xyz agency poisoned Exo mind to convince them sm was bad. Thus this legal dispute. If the entire industry was as rotten then there wouldn't be any of this as every agency would be a copy of sm but there isn't so obviously the whole thing isn't like that.

true but negotiations only come around at the 2nd contract renewal and it only benefits the most popular members but generally, idols still have a long way to go.

You're thinking of Jessi, who isn't the same person as Jessica from SNSD, who the original discussion was about. I can't see Jessica Jung signing with either P Nation or whichever of Jay Park's labels Jessi is signed to.
