Tried whiskey once and almost burned my throat. Doesn't it all taste the same? I'm not talking about mixing it with other beverages just whiskey by itself. Is any AKP ARMY a whiskey lover?

  • And just like that army became pseudo alcoholics overnight as the entire fandom made those companies stock prices go to the Moon as everyone bought liquor even if they didn't drink it

  • Huge differences, yeah! A Japanese whiskey might have peachy, caramel-like notes, whereas a Scottish whiskey might be heavy on the peat and smoke, but an American bourbon whiskey is going to be sweeter, smoother and all around easier on the palette .

(But yes, all of them burn! 😄)

  • I just know japanese and western (idk is jack daniels scots? texas?) whiskeys tastes different but my comprehension of alcohol is only sweet, dry, and smoky. Have them on rocks help the burn but it’s not recommended by people who takes whiskey seriously?

A lot of people used to say that you should never dilute whiskey in any way, hence even buying things like ‘whiskey rocks’, or little chillable fancy pebbles was a big thing.

Now a lot more people accept that just a touch of water can open up the flavour q lot more.

Btw, I am no whiskey expert-not my personal poison - but have enough whiskey freaks around me to have picked up a fair bit! My palette’s not that advanced - I’d go for some of those Kentucky bourbons out of preference for ease of drinking…. but Talisker (for example), that’s a proper smoke/peat/pepper ScottIsh malt. I’d only go for that if I already knew I liked real whiskey! Makes my nose wrinkle up and my throat shrivel!

That’s really nice about on rock thing phew

I personally like liqueurs (like limoncello) and wine than hard alcohol but knowing the difference is just a great convo starter lol. Definitely will try kentucky bourbon!

Whiskey and gin are a HELL NO for me as I would like to keep my voice box intact lol. But I don't know not one person around me that likes or even drinks whiskey. So thanks for the insight!
