Min Heejin is the 2nd female producer to receive the Producer of the Year Award from Gaon/Circle Awards, the only award where the Producer of Year award is given in a regular basis.
Unfortunately, the first female producer who received the award was someone much younger than her, namely a Lee Jieun in 2018. (it says IU team, but the very fact that her name, not a company name or anything else, is there means she is the head of the team and the awardee.)
I am not aware of a female producer winning such award, even when they produced themselves, in USA, Japan and UK.
So Lee Jieun became the very first female producer who won such award in a major center of pop. She is also the first person to win it more than once, since Edam Entertainment won the Producer of the Year Award in 2022 when she was the owner of that company.
It is a huge hurdle Lee JIeun has built in front of Min Heejin.
NewJeans topped the Melon 100 for the longest of any acts, put two songs into the Billboard Hot 100, and sold 700,000 copies of the last album containing two songs
So, by all means, Min Heejin should be held in a higher regard than Lee Jieun, who only produced IU and failed to put any songs in the Billboard Hot 100.
