Why are so many skin care brands in Korea called "dr. (name)" ?

but SHINee is promoting Dr.G

It was developed by dermatologists and they want to convey re brand/marketing that they are skin experts etc.

Too bad that so many didn’t work for me. I think I tried Dr Jart. Even in Thailand, we also have some famous dermatologist that developed their own skincare line etc.

cause people glorify everything with a dr title

I believe there was an international research group that made a brand called dermalogica that one works for me.

It lends credibility. It suggests that there is a science to what they are putting into their products and that there would be less or no quackery.

I tried that one too but it didn’t work for me.

I wondered the same thing when I first got into Korean skincare! From what I’ve heard, it’s mostly a marketing thing—K-beauty brands love using "Dr." in their names to make products sound more science-backed. Some actually do have dermatologists behind them, but a lot are just playing into the trend. I got super into skincare after trying micro needling devices for acne scars, and I noticed so many "Dr." brands when looking for serums to use after. At first, I thought they were all dermatologist-developed, but nope—just clever branding!
