2022 was the year of samples, 2023 seems to be the year of cinema

  • We all know 2022 was the year of samples, with RV FMR, BP Shut down and even PV and Ive After Like but now it seems 2023 trend is mvs based in indie western movies uh? Interesting choice so far... :eyes:

    RV Birthday with Edward sissorhand

GOT Stamp in it mv also was inspired by a movie

Now Yena's Love and War is literaly the movie Closer and Eternal sunshine condensed in one mv...

Kinda reminds me of Taeyeon WDICY which was also inspired by Eternal sunshine :/:/

What do you think of this trend?

  • Imma be honest with you, unless the original material is referenced in a clever and/or artistic way, I don’t really have much interest in unoriginal cinematic mvs. Take hype boy’s mvs: it clearly drew inspiration from 1990s - early 2000s teen films but the actual story and cinematography are original, and i enjoy it a lot more to some other mvs that i won’t name :danceb:

i wholly agree  taking inspiration to make something new and different sounds great but just repeat the scenes in the movie is just MEH ;judgingpepe:

yeah exactly. The original film is already right there to watch; an inferior replication of it in the form of a kpop mv without any new quality added does nothing for me lol
