Oh for gg, I tend not to gravitate towards the cute concept ones idk why.
Sometimes, past controversial behavior might turn me off, but like... ig it depends on the controversy and how it was handled. I feel like there's some groups though that can get into some kind of trouble a lot and like... that feels like baggage and kind of exhausting even if all the controversies aren't necessarily like, that bad perse.
Bland performances don't really make me interested in investing in a group. I know it's generally music > performances, but I feel like if I like the music, I can just listen to it without really investing in the group yk? I think good performances really sell the music and group more for me and get me excited. I don't really see it as a one or the other kind of thing. They are both important imo.

Yeah, controversies are hard. It really does depend on what they were on how they were handled. Also, i find that if the fandom is overly aggressive about being defensive, that will turn me off to the group unfortunately.

or the shepard tone - its great in movies but headache inducing in a kpop song. iforgot which one-- probably blocked it out for the traumatic experience
a minor one is using an adlib as a main beat. the new G.O.T. song did that but it took away from it a lot.
