A question about cultural appropriation

sounds like a hip hop and amapiano fusion track. i'm not from south africa so i can't really say anything on whether i think it's cultural appropriation or not, but it sounds absolute fire tho

The artist in this song (Peter Fox, born as Pierre Baigorry) is a Polish-French artist from Berlin. He gained popularity with the group SEEED that he has been in since 1998 (acording to wikipedia there is a whole set of producers, musicians etc. behind the group, but they only promoted as 3 singers so you never got to know that it was more than just the singers, one of them by the way also passed away allready). The group is mainly made out of only foreign people and many of their songs have either English verses or a English version.

You don't need to wonder that Peter's solo music goes into this direction since his group's music is also like that and they do this since they exist and are quit popular with it (even got some people from outside Germany into their music). It was a but weird when I heard on the news that they said his song would've been under fire, especially since his music never had been called out for stuff like that before

oh wow, this is actually very interesting. i never thought i'd hear german in an amapiano song, at least not more than one, but they were clearly have made a brand out of themselves with this interesting fusion

i don't have anything against it, in fact i find it very intriguing, but then again i'm not really in the place to express an opinion on the matter as it doesn't concern my culture or history. i think the sudden "he will receive criticism" notion comes from us as a worldwide community is becoming more and more aware of other cultures and traditions, but also simply because people are a little too sensitive in some cases and will cancel anyone for anything :)
