If you have been keeping tabs on UK politics especially Scottish politics in general, Scot Gov has been trying to get another independence referendum going. If Scottish voters voted yes, Scotland would be independent and not part of the UK anymore
They had one in 2014, the voters voted no
However one of the biggest arguments for the no camp then was that Scotland would lose membership to the EU
And now look what happened
Brexit
Scotland voted no on Brexit but because of the UK majority they were forced to leave it.
This along with other Conservative government shenanigans made the Scot Gov recently try to have another independence vote, but since it's a reserved matter (Scottish Government can't rule on certain things since it's not a full fledged government as part of the UK) they need to ask UK government for permission to have one (like in 2014). Otherwise it would if been illegal and void

The Scot Gov made a case to the UK Supreme Court to see of they can do it without Westminster approval, last month were arguments and this morning the judgement
Basically it boils down to:
It's a reserved matter, you can't have one.
Scot Gov is obviously disappointed, so they are trying to see if they can get a pro independence majority in the next uk election
So I end in a question. Scotland in the UK is facing problems, but if they leave they face a whole new set of problems.
Should Scotland be a independent country?
